Young People Counselling

In recent years, young people have actively brought their personal challenges with mental health to social media. This has raised awareness amongst peers, made it a public issue and reduced stigma.

However, statistics show that children and young people’s mental health needs are not always met. Learn more about our services for young people by clicking the button below.

Let’s look at the facts

Almost one million children and young people had active referrals for Children and Young People’s Mental Health Services in England in 2022-23.

  • A third (28%) of children referred to mental health services (270,300) were still waiting for support, while almost 40% (372,800) had their referral closed before accessing support.

  • Children are still waiting long times to access support, with nearly 40,000 children experiencing waits of at least two years.

At Diverse Minds we work with young people aged 13 and above who need additional support with navigating life challenges. Our sessions are tailored to meet their needs, and we offer a caring and safe space to work with a range of issues, including:

  • Anxiety and stress

  • Parental conflict, separation or divorce

  • Peer pressure (including gang-related issues and associated risks).

  • Bullying

  • Self-esteem and self-confidence

  • Academic pressures and performance anxiety

If you are a parent, carer or guardian who believes their child will benefit from our service, then please get in touch. Our goal is to empower young people to develop the skills and strategies they need to thrive and achieve their personal goals.
